This week it was announced that Walmart wants to hire the 100,000 honorably discharged war vets for jobs when they return home over the next 5 years. I see a couple of problems with this:
First, where are all these people going to work? Is Walmart that desperate for help that they will have a need for all these people? Maybe this is just a good will gesture only and not something they really want or going to do.
Second, what if one person gets rejected by the company? Most of these people probably don’t have retail skills so what if they don’t pass their tests or just isn’t qualified in general? Anybody else smell lawsuit here? Walmart is no stranger to lawsuits and probably would like not to get sued over this. However, it only takes one person not to get hired to call foul on the company and want to sue them.
Overall, I think it is ironic that Walmart wants to hire so many unqualified people when I applied over 3 times in the last couple of years and have applied nearly 10 times in the last 15 years. With over 20 years of retail experience, I feel its ironic that Walmart wants to hire people with no experience when my experience was so great. But then again, maybe Walmart only wants dumbass employees for their dumbass company. Oh, well, you never get good help at Walmart anyway, so what’s another 100,000 employees to not to help anybody.
